The piece seems very well composed, yet also very synthy. But the melodies and themes are great, so one can overlook the synthy feel.

Actually on my second listen if has a bit of a semi-old nintendo/playstation rpg-sound to it, which is cool.
9/10 and you get a 5-vote because flutes, I fucking love flutes.

stunkel responds:

Thank you! And yeah I need some better sounding software instruments! I'm glad that the melodies took the better side of you though. It's an investment I need to make though for sure. It will definitely help me in my music.

And that's awesome! I am so glad you thought so! I was going for a video game feel, and nintendo was absolutely a huge inspiration on this. And I love flutes as well :3

Thanks a ton for the review!

The strings on the second half makes my butter dribble. 'tis always a pleasure when you set loose a musical goose.
Enough blabbering, you did well!

KKSlider60 responds:

That's some thick cheese there. XDD
Thanks buddy!

This brief battle of axes shattering shields and sharpened spears piercing flesh was awesome!
The drums have definitely become clearer and feel more dynamic - if that's the right word.

The Haze Over Fallenguard is getting strong!

GraveDigger87 responds:

Thanks man!

Something is afoot in Fallenguard - a brilliant new addition to the THOF-series!

And yeah, the drums does sound different than usual, hah
I really, really like the hooking riff that first appear at 0:32 it's just badass. Great melodies and a sweet flow.

The outro-riffs were just perfect - and the drum-rollery was pretty cool too

GraveDigger87 responds:

Cool thanks man! I'm trying to tab out this drum beat, including the outro, so i can understand it and use elements from it in the future too but it's being difficult. It was really nice to play with beats different from my usual junk though. Thanks for the review man!

It's an enjoyable piece, but you might consider fiddling with the velocity levels, to make it sound less sterile and computerized. (It's a tedious task, but it's worth it, I tell you!)

With the boring criticism out of the way, this piece made me all cheery. Thank you.

Yoshiii343 responds:

Gah! Totally forgot about velocity levels!

Also, you're welcome. Glad to make your day a wee bit better.
=3

I don't think I've seen proper folk metal on NG before. This is fucking badass!
The composition seems solid, and it flows well. Great riffs, crisp vocals and some sweet synth interludes

Shmokko responds:

Gee, thanks:D My friend and i are currently working on another folk metal song, not sure when it will be finished, but we'll try to get it done before August. I'm glad you liked the synth in this song, knowing that you are far better at them than I ;)

On the my first listen, the percussion seemed a little too loud in the mix, but it actually invokes a pretty intriguing wild and tribal atmosphere. Very nice.
Reminds me a bit of a very raw version of what Carbon Based Lifeforms does.

Spinechilling, that's some good proper ambience, hah.

hjhkbn responds:

Thank you sir, I've always been interested in making ambient music xD

I dabble
